“Friendsgiving” Dinner at Giant

On November 21, the Chicago Bailliage visited Giant, an intimate, stylishly casual restaurant that has become one of the Windy City’s hottest eateries since opening last July. Confrères packed the boisterous Logan Square venue and sipped vintage Champagne before filling all 45-seats (including the kitchen counter) for a pre-Thanksgiving, family-style meal.

Executive Chef Jason Vincent (formerly of Nightwood), named one of Food & Wine magazine’s “Best New Chefs in America” in 2013, selected eleven highlights from Giant’s wildly eclectic menu, including the celebrated fried uni shooter and unique house-made pastas. The seasonally focused cuisine exhibited layers of unexpected flavors that paired beautifully with unusual global wines curated by Beverage Director/Partner Josh Perlman and splendid Chicago cellar selections.

As the evening concluded, Bailli Mon Roldan thanked Josh, Chef/Partner Ben Lustbader, and the entire Giant team for a memorable evening. The ironically named eatery might be diminutive in square footage, but its varied and excellent cuisine is a giant addition to Chicago’s vibrant dining scene.
