Commemorating Robert “Rabbie” Burns’s 261st anniversary of his birth
January 3rd, 2011
On the Occasion of the Anniversary of Robbie Burns
Chez Vice Échanson Tim Malishenko
Happy New Year! We extend a Société Mondiale du Vin invitation to a Scotch “Nosing” (tasting). Our first event of 2011 gives us an opportunity to use the occasion of Robbie Burns’ 252nd Birth Anniversary to have a wee dram or two as we taste the range of flavors across the famous regions of Scotland. The enclosed “Single Malt Flavour Map” sets the range of our tasting from light to rich and delicate to smoky, from the corners of the map to the center. Likewise, the regions from lowland to highland, Speyside and the Isles of Jura, Islay, and Skye will all be included on our Scotch tour.
We will use the “Flavour Map” and scoring sheets (undiluted, nose (diluted) and flavor from mouth feel, to primary taste and finish). We do not expect to consume the full amount of our selected Single Malts so if you find a favorite, the partial bottles will be available to buy at an appropriately discounted price.
Our date is carefully chosen to be the weekend after the NFL Championships yet the week before the Super Bowl. What else could be better to warm the soul on a cold January afternoon? We intend to serve light hors d’oeuvres to compliment the Scotch, and suggest you take lunch prior to the event.
Space is limited and reservations will be taken on a first come, first served basis with priority given to Mondiale members.
