When one of the Chicago Chapter’s newest members, Chevalier Darryll Schiff, had to miss a recent Chaîne event, he had a very good excuse: He was busy preparing his photographic artwork for the SCOPE Miami Beach Art Show. “We finally got my wall looking just right after I pushed for more space,” said Schiff proudly.
Schiff was selected to be the featured artist at the Chicago Praksis Gallery H35 booth, showing new work from his “Confluence” series. One of the premier art shows in the country, SCOPE Miami Beach took place December 5-10 in Miami, Fla. The event highlighted works ranging from cutting-edge to sophisticated contemporary art, with participating galleries representing both up-and-coming and established artists. More than 140 galleries exhibited at the show, with thousands of art lovers visiting from across the country.
Closer to home, a large-scale print of Schiff’s photographic work, “Descending to Heaven,” was chosen to be part of Chicago’s Wabash Arts Corridor in the city’s South Loop. More recently, Schiff provided the cover photo of the program for the Chaîne’s 2017 U.S. Grand Chapitre event in Chicago. His works also can be found in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and other world-class art museums.
